Smoking Lady & Her Hairless Chihuahua



     The Smoking Lady listens to no one; she will not listen to you, either. She would listen to her hairless chihuahua but she cannot hear him unless she picks him up to her ear. You see, the Smoking Lady not only does not listen but she cannot hear even if she would listen. She does not listen because she does not want to hear what people ask her to do. A lady asked her not to pour water out of her window onto her head when she walks by but the Smoking Lady did not listen. The Doorman asked her not to put her dog  onto the lawn to make pee and poop because it turns the green grass yellow but she would not listen to him, either. Leona made a sign in big Chinese characters asking people not to let their dogs go on the lawn. She put it on the lawn where the Smoking Lady puts her dog thinking that she could read if she could not hear or listen. Guess what? It was not her dog pooping on the grass after all; it was the orange alley cat all alone. Now Leona puts chopsticks and pamelo on the lawn either to scare the cat away or to give it something to eat, but I do not think a cat can hold chopsticks. Do you? Can you?

Where Waterview Street Begins

     Do you see the pretty lady in front of the water? Yes; that's right! That's your mommy when she came to visit Grandpa David and Leona on the island of Taiwan 5 years before you were born. The name of the water is Han River.      At the top of Waterview Street, there is a view of that water. It is where Waterview Street starts. You can see our street over Mommy's head where the river bends at the top of this photo but you have to look carefully. In the picture below you can see the building Mommy was standing on behind the trees on the right. Can you see it?       The water is in a river called Han River. In this picture, the workers almost stopped the river to build the bridge, but now the river is okay. If we walk two blocks up Waterview Street from Renoir Castle, we can view the water; that is why it is called "water-view" street. Fish Wash

When you come to visit us in Taiwan, I will take you to see the Fish Wash. The water passes under the end of Waterview Street but the fish stay. The long gold-brown fish swim from the water coming down the mountainside and they get stuck at the Waterview Street Bridge; they can go no further because there is a dam under it  that stops them; I don't know why. If I were them, I would turn around and swim back up the wash into the mountains, but these fish are a little stupid. Instead,they stay together there swimming in circles and flopping around forever.

Our Doormen

Second Doorman Our first doorman was so old when he left there were not any pictures of him. He was a nice man and liked cleaning the old fish pond until water started coming out and the fish were not happy. We moved the fish to a nicer place and put plants in the old pond. The old Doorman left us to help Motorhead until he found out he was not getting money for his help; so he quit and went away.   The second doorman was good, but he got very sick. Finally, he could not take it anymore.  His health got worse and worse and he had to leave. He was such a nice guy and has helped Leona do her job as building treasurer. We hope he is okay.  We had gotten a temporary doorman until  a new man. was found. I do not have his picture either because he looked bad always sleeping and he was hard to find coming in late and leaving early. We had to tell him good-bye.
